Defense of the Ancients 2 – Valve will Fortsetzung des Fantasy-Strategie-Spiels mit einem Turnier auf GamesCom vorstellen
Alexander Trust, den 2. August 2011Im Rahmen eines mehrtägigen Events will Valve die neue Episode des Fantasy-Strategie-Spiels Defense of the Ancients 2 kurz DotA2 vorstellen. In einem mit 1 Millionen Dollar dotierten Tunier werden die 16 besten DotA-Teams um den Hauptpreis spielen.
Läppische 1 Millionen Dollar lässt Valve springen, um Defense of the Ancients 2 gebührend vorzustellen. Wie das Internet-Portal gamasutra (engl.) berichtet, soll im Rahmen der GamesCom 2011 ein fünftägiges Turnier mit Namen „The International“ stattfinden, in dem 16 der besten DotA-Teams ihr Können unter Beweis stellen können.
Valve-Präsident Gabe Newell über das Event: „The International is the first public Dota 2 event and will give the tens of millions of gamers playing Dota around the world their first look at the new game. I have had the good fortune to watch the competitors as they prepare for the tournament, and the level of play is extraordinary.“ Auf Deutsch, Russisch, Chinesisch und Englisch soll exklusiv vom Event berichtet werden. Entsprechend sind die Kernmärkte für die Fortsetzung ablesbar.
Defense of the Ancients 2 wurde bereits im Oktober letzten Jahres angekündigt, nachdem sich Valve die Rechte am Namen gesichert hatte. Noch in diesem Jahr soll das Game mit einem Mix aus Echtzeitstrategie und Rollenspiel-Elementen auf den Markt kommen.
